Except in cases of total annihilation and genocide, wars aren't won on the battlefield. They're not won by soldiers and generals. They only end and are "won" when the leaders of nations sit down at a table and sign a piece of paper saying the war is over.
It frightens me that when war seems necessary and inevitable, our leaders forget how the war will eventually have to end. At some point, they will have to send out their diplomats to say "here's the table, here's the piece of paper, let's sit down". That's just a fact. There's no way around it.
Sometimes a lot of dead bodies need to pile up before they're ready to sign that piece of paper. But at some point, someone will say to these men "hey, maybe it's time to start thinking about ending this", and it may not be the first time the suggestion was made, but it'll sink in this time, and they'll start down the road of diplomacy, and they'll eventually find a way to end the bloodshed.
This is why I believe in the cause of peace. This is why I will protest a war that hasn't yet begun. This is why I ask, "If our leaders aren't trying to achieve peace, then who will? Not the generals on the battlefield..."
unfortunately, that crazed gun-waving drunken Texan who bullied his way into office with the help of his dumb fuck brother in Florida (where he's not even from) has got a chip on his shoulder, and even though i'll take part in every demo that i can get to, i honestly don't think anything will stop that madman.
and he's turning us into a "rogue" nation... we fit the fucking bill better than we ever have, thanks to that asshole.
