Michael Mann's movies and TV shows have a ton of this. I first noticed it in Miami Vice. No hello, no goodbye. No how ya doin'. Just "Crockett. Tubbs. In my office. Now."

i always noticed it in the TV Movie(s) of the Week(s). it was always something like:
Jimmy's been killed.
Oh no!
That's not all! He was found with an eggbeater lodged in his anus.
We have to find out who did this!
