1) one of [livejournal.com profile] secretlanguage's friends emailed me today. he is sort of the antithesis of [livejournal.com profile] mycrazymind, in that now i'm having email conversations regarding the NONexistence of god, rather than the existence. it's all fine and well to me; i am a devout agnostic and very roughly nihilistic when it comes to Matters of Prime Philosophical Import.

and all philosophy is moot as well. it's not all wrong, per se, just missing an important ingredient: the absolution of absolutitude. (something no one can ever have.... i can't blame science or philosophy for that.)

2) also, my old friend Ed emailed me today as well. Ed is a reformed Deadhead, and looks EXACTLY like a six-and-a-half foot tall Chris Cornell (singer for the defunct seminal Seattle grunge-metal band Soundgarden (one of the greatest bands there ever was, with the mad Kim Thayil on vengeance dirt-guitar and the utterly incomparable rhythm machine of Ben Shepard (bass) and Matt Cameron (now of Pearl Jam) (drums)), now with ex-Rage Against the Machine members in Audioslave). after Cornell cut his hair, that is.

Ed is a truly wonderful guy. there is no one more like the fabulously wacky Kramer (on Seinfeld) in the whole world. a big, goofy freak. but a Rainbow Child as well; he gives great hugs, too. he used to piss us off a little bit sometimes, because he could at times be a real nightmare when it comes to being a responsible adult, and could also be demanding at times; but by and large, i can think of nobody i've ever known whom i've cherished in the way that i've cherished that crazy, wonderful bruddah. and we all love him!

we used to throw down a lot, too. just play fighting, mostly, which is why i didn't include any mention of it in my post about my "history" with brawling. too many instances, too. he used to toss my ass around like a god damned rag doll! once in a while, we'd try to fight for real (we were raging alcoholics in those days, especially me, back at Ocean Oaks apartments in Neptune Beach (Jacksonville), FL, in the early to mid 90s), but i could never throw a very earnest punch at a friend, and he was far too massive for me to even bother. but when i did, he put me in my place fo' sho'.

anyways, he's a real great and far out, gone cat, and i miss the shit out of him.

UPDATE: been reading his blog... he's really a phenomenally poetic cat, too. a lanky someday-Buddha of sorts. what a beautiful mad freak.

verrry interrrresting

Are you absolutely sure that everything lacks absolution? ;)

i haven't seen absolution yet, not even in history.

no, i'm not absolutely sure; NO ONE can be ABSOLUTELY sure of anything.

and i don't understand the difference between having a deep and meaningful conversation with "god" in one's head, and having a deep and meaningful conversation with a pidgeon named "Bruce" who lives in your refridgerator. insanity is relative. and religion is simply insane, at least in that regard.

we cannot know (as in gnosis) god, therefore we may as well all be agnostics.

i hope you understand that i really don't mean to offend... in fact, i respect you so much that i think you can take my blasphemy :P
