I have a friend who got six IE pop-ups within two minutes of booting. And then more would continue at this rate throughout the session. He had his problem for a week, and thus kept bugging me to find and give back his Norton antivirus CD. While Norton didn't find anything, simply it's running has suppressed more than 50% pop-up frequency.
